FAQ
No, you do not have to use the sync service. The iReconcile app for iPhone and iPod Touch is fully functional without it. The sync services adds capabilities to the app, however if you find they are not necessary for you, you can choose not to use them.
When you run the app for the first time, you will be taken through a setup wizard. During this setup process, if you wish to not use the sync service, select "Disconnected" mode. "Online" mode uses the sync services.
iReconcile does not communicate with your bank or other financial institutions. If you are looking for an application that pull data from all your financial institutions, this is not the app for you. There are many products (some even free) that offer this service.
iReconcile is for those who want to keep a tight watch over their spending. Viewing your financial data through your bank’s website can be misleading, as many “recent” transactions won’t be immediately available. By manually tracking your spending, you get an accurate, real-time view of your accounts.
Of course you can! Note that only your accounts and transactions will be transferred. By default, support for uploading data is disabled (for security reasons). If you want to transfer data from your existing Checkbook app, follow the instructions in the Checkbook app. Also, you can view the video tutorial which details the steps necessary for uploading your data (link below). This video can also be watched directly inside the iReconcile app (Help > Video Tutorials).
If you open a CSV file in Excel that has been properly formatted according to standards, Excel doesn’t display the data properly. There are a couple of steps you must follow. The full instructions can be found at the iReconcile blog (link below).
Your transactions can be transferred to Quicken by exporting to a QIF file. Once you have the QIF file on your desktop, you can then import it. The steps are a bit tricky, because Quicken is trying to phase out the QIF format. Full instructions can be found on the iReconcile blog (link below).
Quicken is phasing out the QIF format for a more advanced format known as QFX. Unfortunately, this format cannot be used by third-party applications such as iReconcile. Quicken does still support the QIF format, although it’s limited. The full explanation, and how to work around it, can be found on the iReconcile blog (link below).
